Vaadhoo Island’s Location

Vaadhoo Island is located in the Maldives, a country comprised of many islands. The Maldives is located in the Indian Ocean and has nearly 1,200 coral islands. The island of Vaadhoo is found in the North Raa Atoll, one of the atolls that make up the Maldives. The North Raa Atoll is one of the least populated atolls in the entire country.

Vaadhoo Island is a popular tourist destination for its beautiful beaches and coral reefs. Its most notable landmark is the Blue Lagoon, a large body of water that has been recognized as one of the most beautiful lagoons in the world. Vaadhoo’s beaches are black sand, contrasting with its bright blue waters. The island’s coral reefs are home to many fish and sea creatures that can only be found here.

The island has been inhabited since at least 1 CE when it was used as a trading post by Arabs. In the 19th century, British explorers visited the island and noted that it was uninhabited except for goats, which had been brought there by Arabs. In 1920, Maldivian people began settling on Vaadhoo Island permanently.

The Several Guest Houses

There are several guest houses on Vaadhoo Island. Some are in the middle of the island, while others are closer to the coast. They all have unique features and amenities, so you can choose one that suits your needs and preferences.

The Adaaran Prestige Vadoo is one of the most popular guest houses on Vaadhoo Island because it has a beautiful view of the sea, an outdoor swimming pool, and a large garden. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with air conditioning and Wi-Fi access provided free of charge. Another great option is Small Island Lodge, which has a private beach area with sun loungers and umbrellas available for rent at an additional cost (but still relatively affordable compared to other beach resorts). Rooms come equipped with air conditioning and Wi-Fi access, and an outdoor swimming pool is available for guests who want to cool off during their stay.

The Wonder of Vaadhoo Island’s Water (Sea of Stars Maldives)

Glowing water in Vaadhoo Island.

The water glows blue because of marine microbes called phytoplankton. A type of phytoplankton called dinoflagellates causes the phenomenon. Dinoflagellates are single-celled organisms that can glow in various colors and shine blue lights. When the microorganisms move, bioluminescence is created naturally. This phenomenon is most commonly seen in places with large amounts of phytoplankton, such as coral reefs and oceans.
